May 20 is Everybody Draw Mohammed Day

Momentum seems to be growing. Dan Savage, Michael Moynihan at Reason, and now Allahpundit at Hot Air are spreading the word: May 20 is Everybody Draw Mohammed Day in support of Matt Stone and Trey Parker and in opposition to religious thuggery.

Be there or be square!

This remarkable story reminded me that it's been a while since I've posted a picture of Mohammed.

Mohammed

I haven't posted a nice Mohammed image lately, so here are two -- or, rather, two views of the same image, The Last Judgment by Giovanni da Modena, a fresco (c. 1415) in the Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna, Italy. In case you missed it, someone tried to blow it up recently. Ho hum.

Off-Topic Roundup

I've read three excellent articles today and thought I'd share them.

At City Journal, Nicole Gelinas explains why the Democrats' spending plan may just send us over the cliff: Can the Feds Uncrunch Credit? Maybe—but Washington’s unprecedented interventions could make things much, much worse.

Also at City Journal, Bruce Bawer looks at the Religion of Peace, Geert Wilders and the shame of the Netherlands: Submission in the Netherlands: The trial of Geert Wilders represents another blow against Dutch freedom.

Last but not least, Andrew Bostom debunks the anthropogenic global warming scam: Horse Hockey Climate Scientology: “Getting Rid” of the Medieval Warming Period.

Mohammed

Haven't posted a picture of Mohammed in a while. This one, courtesy of Zombietime, "is from one of the earliest surviving illustrated manuscripts of the Inferno, dating from the third quarter of the fourteenth century (1350-1375), and currently held in the Bodleian Library in Oxford, England." Mo is the guy in the middle, showing his entrails to Dante and Virgil in the Eighth Circle of Hell.

At Least He Didn't Bludgeon Her to Death

"He could not display the blood-stained sheet that is traditionally exhibited as proof of the bride’s 'purity.'”

I remember doing that on my wedding night. Don't you?

This kind of thing keeps happening when you don't get them before they reach puberty. Mohammed had no problem displaying the bloody sheet when he consummated his marriage with his nine year old wife, Aisha.

Mohammed Image of the Day

Arab illustration showing Mohammed (on the right) preaching to the earliest converts. From a manuscript in the collection of the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris (Manuscrits Arabe 1489 fol. 5v).

Guess you'll have to behead me now.
