Justice Scalia on the Right to Secede

I'm a huge admirer of Justice Antonin Scalia and can't help passing this along.

  1. I'm not a fan of Scalia personally but I liked his opinion on that. I think what could have bearing on it more than civil war cases is what happens with Puerto Rico if they ever vote for independence. They aren't a state, but they're as close to being one as you get. If they vote to become their own country I can't wait to see what the government will do. So far they haven't though.

Like Christopher, I'm not a big fan, but what a refreshing answer from Scalia. Living in Texas, I get a little weary of the drumbeat for secession from people who obviously haven't looked into what happened the last time we tried it. And I find it pretty cool that Scalia wrote back at all.
